My name is Heather Horne and I am honored to serve the Hermosa Vista community as the incoming 2023-2024 principal at Hermosa Vista Elementary School.

10 years ago, my husband and I moved our three children from a neighboring city to Mesa, largely so they could attend Mesa Public Schools. I have loved the opportunities and experiences that MPS has provided our family, and want to be part of providing that for your students and families.

I am grateful for the amazing staff I have the privilege of working with each day at Hermosa Vista. Our teams of teachers are already working to create the very best learning opportunities for your students - we have new teachers joining us this year that I can't wait for you to meet and get to know! There is a very positive, innovative feeling to our campus right now, and I couldn't be more thrilled! The work that we do at Hermosa Vista is always centered on your student and doing what we can to deepen and personalize their learning. We take this enormous privilege very seriously, and want you to know how grateful we are for your support and trust in us.

I am passionate about education and I am passionate about Mesa Public Schools. I don't believe in doing the same things better, I believe in doing better things for our students. Elementary school is a vital time to instill a love of learning and curiosity. My hope is that Hermosa Vista students recieve a high level, engaging education and become life-long learners who use their curiosity, knowledge, and generosity to contribute to their communities and futures. Working alongside this community, staff and students is truly a dream come true. Together, we are changing the world, one Skyhawk at a time & it's exciting work!
